World Series Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extra-inning contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total over 50 million viewers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball reported this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

International Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete American average reached over 16 million. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 different languages.
