Nearly twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the area, producing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage

Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

Rescue organizations responded to 598 emergency reports across the region, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both regions.
